Jean-Marie Le Pen, 95, was placed under legal protection. A civil provision activated at the request of the family by the local court of Puteaux, after a medical expertise establishing the incapacity of the former president of the National Front (ex-RN).

Jean-Marie Le Pen placed “under legal protection”. After having been a party leader, regional councilor, French MP, European MP… The native of La Trinité-sur-Mer (Morbihan) has done almost everything with the notable exception of mayor and senator. Aged 95 and considered unfit to manage his interests after a medical assessment, his three daughters - Marie-Caroline, Yann and Marine Le Pen - his representatives, will be able to carry out various acts in the name of their father, alone or in concert.

Under future protection mandate since mid-February

The former president of the National Front (ex-RN) was the subject of a future protection mandate in mid-February, a civil provision which is similar to a form of light guardianship. This civil provision was activated at the request of the family by the local court of Puteaux (Hauts-de-Seine).

The legal protection regime differs depending on the acts that the protected person can perform alone. It may be a guardianship, a curatorship, a safeguard of justice or a mandate for future protection. This last measure is of an anticipatory nature: the adult (called principal) designates in advance one or more people (called agent) to represent him on the day when he will no longer be able to manage his interests. Note that guardianship is the legal protection measure having the most consequences on the acts that the protected person can carry out alone, specifies the official website of the French administration.

According to several of his relatives, the health of “Menhir” has declined significantly since a heart attack in April 2023. Will he be able to appear at his trial in the MEP assistants case scheduled for the fall? next ?
