  • Events A 10-year-old boy flees by train from Madrid to Ávila to escape the beatings with a cable that his parents gave him to "educate"

After spending a Saturday night partying, Pablo left his friends inside the place where they were and decided to go home to sleep. Shortly after crossing the threshold of the door of the well-known Nico's pub, located on the central Caños del Peral street, which connects the squares of Ópera and Santo Domingo, his nightmare began. According to the complaint filed by the victim - 36 years old and of Colombian nationality - with the National Police, "a man located a few meters from the door [of the premises]

winked at him and motioned for him to come closer

."

At the invitation to come closer, Pablo approached to see what the man wanted. However, they never had a chance to engage in conversation. "

I approached him and he immediately started hitting me

," the victim told this newspaper days after the attack. Without saying a word, his attacker first punched him in the head shouting "fucking faggot", which was followed by a shower of punches and kicks. «He didn't tell me anything else.

Just 'fucking faggot, I'm going to kill you' repeatedly

," Pablo remembers. According to the documentation in the hands of the National Police, the aggressor was "a man of Aryan race, light eyes, blonde, with a beard and a strong build, wearing a blue sweater and jeans."

As Pablo remembers days after suffering the beating, his attacker - who by description and attire could belong to a skinhead or extreme right group -

had "short hair, almost shaved,"

he says. "More or less a military cut" and, despite having

an "Aryan"

or Eastern European appearance, in the few words he spoke, "he had a Spanish accent."

After suffering the first punches, the attacker began to hit his victim while she was stunned and on the ground, to finally pounce on him and bite his ear with extreme violence. After the beating, as can be seen in the photographs,

Pablo was unable to open his left eye

due to the severe swelling that arose.

«

The aggression stopped when I started screaming for help

. There the guy got up [he was lunging at me on the ground to bite and hit me] and ran away," he remembers. "My friends," he continues, "didn't find out anything until the next day."

Despite the brutality of the scene and the screams of pain and asking for help, not a single person came to Pablo's aid while his attacker attacked him. «

No one intervened, only a guy who finally approached me and asked me how

he was doing and helped me request the ambulance and call the police», he recalls to GRAN MADRID. Then, minutes later, a radio patrol showed up at the scene of the attack and informed Pablo of the steps to follow.

According to the facts reported in the complaint,

Pablo did not know the aggressor at all

and did not remember seeing him before. However, given the circumstances in which the attack occurred, the victim senses that his attacker could have chosen him as a victim while he was inside the aforementioned Nico's pub in the company of his friends: "I have the suspicion that it was like that, that

Maybe he had already signed me in and waited for me outside

, but in the same way, I have no memory of seeing him inside the bar," he says.

Since it is unknown whether the place is equipped with security cameras and due to the lack of collaboration from witnesses, it is currently impossible to confirm his hunch.

After suffering the attack, Pablo was taken to the Jiménez Díaz Foundation by Samur, where he remained

admitted for more than 12 hours

to undergo an exhaustive medical examination to find out if, in addition to the visible wounds, he had internal injuries as a result of the beating. .

«A 36-year-old man is brought to the emergency room by Samur (...) The patient reports having been attacked by an unknown person with blows to the face and

a bite to the left ear

. He presents great pain at the facial level. Fortunately, the tests showed that he did not have internal bleeding, although the ophthalmologists on duty "objectified retinal shock in the left eye" for which they prescribed a check-up between four and six weeks after the event.

Regarding the

"human bite on the left ear"

that appears in the document, the doctors affirm that it has developed "with no signs of complications" at the time of the recognition.

According to the latest data published by the Madrid Observatory against Homophobia,

173 homophobic attacks were recorded in the Community of Madrid during the year 2022

. A high figure with an average of one attack every two days in which the capital recorded 73% of the incidents. Likewise, a study prepared by the LGTBI+ State Federation ensures that 8.6% of people belonging to the gay community have suffered physical aggression at least once in their lives.
