China News Service, April 2 (Xinhua) According to the website of the Ministry of Water Resources, on April 1, my country officially entered the flood season, and the Yangtze River Water Conservancy Commission immediately started a 24-hour flood and drought disaster prevention duty. Entrusted by Liu Dongshun, director of the Yangtze River Commission, Wang Wei, deputy director of the Yangtze River Commission, presided over a flood control and drought relief consultation to analyze and judge the flood situation and rainwater conditions in the basin, and arrange and deploy key tasks for recent flood and drought disaster prevention.

According to the hydrometeorological forecast, there will be two precipitation processes in the Yangtze River Basin in the next week: From April 1st to 3rd, there will be a moderate to heavy rainfall process in the eastern part of the upper reaches of the Yangtze River and the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River. The accumulated area rainfall in the Poyang Lake water system and the Chuhe River is 40 to 60 mm; from April 4 to 7, there will be a moderate rain and local heavy rain in the Dongting Lake and Poyang Lake water systems. It is expected that the Xiangjiang River, Ganjiang River, and Fuhe River , the cumulative area rainfall during the Xinjiang process is 60 to 80 mm. Taking into account the predicted rainfall, the Three Gorges area, Qingjiang River, Dongting Lake water system, Lushui River, Poyang Lake water system, tributaries of northeastern Hubei and related areas will experience significant water rise in small and medium-sized rivers and reservoirs, and some small and medium-sized rivers in the rainfall area may exceed warning levels. The risk of flash floods caused by the above floods and local heavy rainfall is high.

The discussion emphasized that the Yangtze River Basin has entered the flood season, and all departments and units must quickly enter the flood season work status, conscientiously implement the duty and information reporting system, tighten the flood prevention responsibilities, and implement various defensive measures early and carefully. First, we must strengthen monitoring, forecasting and early warning, adhere to rolling consultations and judgments, focus on rainfall forecast and water regime monitoring in areas affected by a new round of heavy rainfall, issue early warning information in a timely manner, and issue "response" reminders to areas affected by heavy rainfall in a timely manner. Second, we must scientifically regulate the reservoir groups in the river basin, closely monitor the drawdown progress of key reservoirs such as the Three Gorges and Danjiangkou, and urge the reservoir groups to draw down as planned before the flood. Third, we must further support Yunnan and Sichuan provinces in drought relief and water supply work, implement various drought relief measures, continue to optimize emergency water supply dispatching of key reservoirs such as Deze Reservoir, strengthen technical support and professional guidance, and ensure water supply safety in drought-stricken areas.

After the meeting, the Yangtze River Prevention and Control Committee and the Yangtze River Committee issued a flood situation notification to the Jiangxi, Hunan, and Hubei Provincial Departments of Prevention and Water Conservancy, requesting that flood control responsibilities be tightened, detailed work measures be implemented, and monitoring, forecasting and warnings, flash flood disasters, and small and medium-sized river floods be strengthened. Defense, engineering inspection and defense, water engineering dispatch, urban flood control and drainage, safety management of key areas and floating population, emergency technical support, duty watch and information reporting, make every effort to prevent this round of rainfall.
