Russia's first deputy permanent representative to the UN, Dmitry Polyansky, wrote about this on Telegram.

According to him, after the Israeli air attack on the Iranian consulate in Damascus, the Iranians turned to the UN Security Council with a request to condemn this action.

Russia requested an open meeting of the Security Council, Polyansky added.

He added that the Maltese presidency had scheduled it for 15:00 New York time (22:00 Moscow time) on April 2.

Earlier, Al Hadath TV channel reported that the death toll as a result of a missile attack on the Iranian consulate in Damascus had risen to 11.

Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdollahian said that an employee of the Swiss Embassy, ​​who represents Washington's interests in the absence of the United States Embassy in Iran, was summoned to the Iranian Foreign Ministry after the Israeli Air Force attack on the Iranian Consulate in Damascus.
