This was announced by the official representative of the Secretary General, Stephane Dujarric.

“This morning, the Secretary General received a telephone call from the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran,” TASS quotes him as saying.

Dujarric noted that the UN is very concerned about a potential serious escalation of the situation.

Earlier, Supreme Leader of the Islamic Republic Ali Khamenei said that Tehran would make Israel regret the attack on the Iranian consulate in Syria.

Press Secretary of the Russian President Dmitry Peskov called the incident an act of aggression.

The Israeli air force attacked the embassy and residence of the Iranian ambassador in the Syrian capital on April 1.

The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps said seven Iranian military advisers were killed.
