The Tulkarm Brigade of the Al-Quds Brigades - the military wing of the Islamic Jihad Movement - mourned one of its field commanders who was killed by the security forces of the Palestinian Authority, it said, days after he was wounded.

The battalion said, "The martyr, the combatant and field commander in the Tulkarm battalion, the son of Nour Shams camp, Moatasem Khaled Al-Arif, who was promoted by the security services, was bleeding."

She added, "Moatasem goes to his Lord after a life full of giving and resistance for the sake of God and the liberation of the land. We count him among the martyrs and we do not praise anyone before God."

She continued by saying, "We affirm that the blood of our people's martyrs will remain a shining beacon for the mujahideen and resistance fighters toward the path of pride, the path of resistance, and the path of liberating the land and the holy sites. We will move forward with the path of resistance until the liberation of all occupied Palestine."

Local sources reported that clashes took place between resistance fighters and authorities in Nour Shams camp after the news of Al-Arif’s martyrdom.

The battalion declared civil disobedience by "blocking all entrances to Tulkarm, especially the entrances to Nour Shams camp, with dirt barriers and explosive devices until the war ends."

Al-Aref was injured in clashes in several areas of Tulkarm in the West Bank between resistance fighters and the Palestinian security services, where the clashes broke out after the security services attempted to arrest young men in the governorate.

Scenes broadcast by local Palestinian platforms last Saturday showed armed confrontations between resistance fighters and Palestinian security services in the Nour Shams camp in Tulkarm.

The Qaffin Brigade - Saraya Al-Quds, affiliated with the Islamic Jihad movement, said that what the Palestinian Authority security services did towards its members was “a heinous and despicable act that indicates the authorities’ failure and aiding the occupation in killing our people.”

The Qaffin Brigade - Saraya Al-Quds also warned in its statement that "any attempt to arrest one of its fighters from Tulkarm to Jenin will be met with a harsh and frank response."
