Occupation forces stormed several towns in the West Bank at dawn today and launched a massive arrest campaign (Associated Press)

On Tuesday morning, the Israeli occupation forces stormed cities and towns in the West Bank and launched widespread raids and arrests, while local Palestinian sources reported that two Palestinians were injured by occupation bullets during the raids.

Al Jazeera's correspondent said that violent confrontations broke out between the occupation forces and Palestinian resistance fighters as they confronted the occupation forces' storming of the Qalandiya camp, north of occupied Jerusalem, at dawn today.

For its part, the Palestinian Red Crescent reported to Al Jazeera that two Palestinians were injured in Qalandiya by bullets from the occupation forces, which threw gas and sound bombs at journalists and civilians, and carried out a campaign of arrests and raids before withdrawing from the camp.

Palestinian media said that the occupation forces stormed the city of Nablus, pushed military reinforcements into the streets of the city and deployed snipers on the rooftops of tall houses in the Old City of Nablus.

It confirmed that the occupation forces arrested a young Palestinian man from the Old City of Nablus before withdrawing from the city.

Raids and clashes

For its part, the Palestinian News Agency (Wafa) reported that the Israeli occupation forces stormed the town of Qaffin, north of Tulkarm, at dawn on Tuesday, and arrested a young Palestinian man after raiding his house in the town.

It quoted local sources as saying that a large military force from the occupation army stormed the town, raided a number of homes, searched them, and subjected their residents to interrogation.

The agency also said that last night, occupation army forces stormed the towns of Azzun and Kafr Qaddum, east of the city of Qalqilya in the West Bank.

It quoted local sources as saying that confrontations broke out between Palestinian youths and the occupation forces in the town of Azzun, during which the occupation soldiers fired live bullets and sound bombs, but no injuries were reported.

The occupation army also stormed the town of Kafr Qaddum, east of the city of Qalqilya, and raided a number of neighborhoods there, without recording any arrests.

New toll of detainees

The governmental Palestinian Prisoners' and Ex-Prisoners' Affairs Authority and the Palestinian Prisoners' Club announced in a joint statement yesterday, Monday, that the number of Palestinian detainees in the West Bank had risen to 7,920 since the seventh of last October.

The two bodies confirmed in their joint statement that the Israeli army arrested 22 Palestinians on Sunday night and Monday dawn.

The statement explained that among the detainees were 4 Palestinian women who were arrested from the governorates of Ramallah and Jerusalem (central), Tulkarm and Jenin (north), and Hebron and Bethlehem (south).

The Palestinian Prisoners Club Association also announced yesterday, Monday, that Israel renewed the administrative detention of 4 female students from Hebron in the occupied West Bank for another 4 months.

The association said in a statement that the students' ages range between 18 and 21 years old, and they have been detained since last December.

The Israeli army escalated raids and arrests in the West Bank coinciding with its aggression against the Gaza Strip on October 7, which resulted in the death of 455 Palestinians and the injury of 4,750 others, according to the Palestinian Ministry of Health.
