Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's office said that the Israeli negotiating delegation has crystallized with the mediators in Cairo a new proposal that will be presented to the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas).

Netanyahu's office stated that "within the framework of the talks, and with constructive mediation from Egypt, the mediators drafted a revised proposal" for a truce in Gaza and to free detainees. He added that Israel expects the mediators to pressure Hamas more forcefully in order to reach an agreement.

Earlier, Israel announced that its negotiating delegation regarding the prisoner exchange deal with Hamas will return today from the Egyptian capital, after holding a new round of intensive talks in this regard.

The Israeli Broadcasting Authority quoted a knowledgeable official as saying that the amended proposal includes what he called Israeli flexibility regarding the return of displaced Palestinians to their homes in the northern Gaza Strip.

Return of the negotiating team

Israeli Channel 12 said - last Friday - that the Prime Minister agreed to the return of the negotiating team to Doha to continue indirect discussions with Hamas regarding the detainee and prisoner exchange deal.

The Israeli Prime Minister's Office explained that Netanyahu directed the heads of the Israeli intelligence service (Mossad) and the Israeli internal security service (Shin Bet) to resume negotiations and go to Doha and Cairo.

These developments coincide with thousands of Israelis continuing to demonstrate in the vicinity of government headquarters and in front of the Knesset headquarters in the occupied city of Jerusalem, demanding the return of detainees, reaching an exchange deal with Hamas, and dismissing the government. They went so far as to burn the country in their threats.
