  With the approval of the State Council, starting from 0:00 on April 1, 2024, the reserved space for the third phase of the Macau light rail extension to Hengqin Port in the Macau port area of ​​Hengqin Port and the related extension area will be officially handed over to the Macau SAR Government for use, and will be used in accordance with the Macau The SAR government has jurisdiction over the implementation of laws.

  Previously, the first-stage travel inspection area of ​​the Macau port area of ​​Hengqin Port and related extension areas was handed over to the Australian side on March 18, 2020. The second-stage passenger and truck inspection area and the access bridge connecting the University of Macau to Hengqin Port were in the mainland.   Construction of the Macau Light Rail Extension Hengqin Line project started on March 18, 2021. The main building of the project consists of a viaduct, a river tunnel and two stations. The alignment starts from the "HE1 Station" next to the Lotus Bridge Station of the Macau-Taipa Line in an elevated way. It gradually descends from the viaduct in the direction of the Lotus Bridge and passes through the river tunnel. It enters the cooperation zone through the Shishimen Waterway and ends at the "HE2 Station" on the lower level of the Hengqin Port basement. The total length is about 2.2 kilometers, of which the tunnel section is about 900 meters.

  At present, the civil engineering and train system engineering of the Macau light rail extension Hengqin Line project have been basically completed, and equipment debugging is in progress. The linkage testing of electromechanical equipment and train systems on the Macau side started in January this year. After the reserved space for the extension of the Macau Light Rail to the Hengqin Port is transferred to the jurisdiction of the Macau SAR Government, it will not only facilitate the construction management of the entire project, but also create conditions for carrying out linkage testing of electromechanical equipment and train systems across the entire line of the project.

At that time, take the Guangzhou-Zhuhai Metro from Guangzhou South to Hengqin Station.
