The Shifa Hospital in the Gaza Strip. Or rather, the rubble that remained. These images show parts of the extensive hospital grounds after the Israeli army withdrew. Desperate people - corpses on the ground.

The military's second raid lasted 14 days. According to Israeli sources, the renewed storming was necessary because Hamas fighters had once again entrenched themselves in the complex. Around 200 Hamas members were killed and 900 terror suspects were arrested.

Marwaan Abu Saadah, clinic director

»Most of the Shifa Clinic buildings were completely destroyed and burned down. The destruction in the buildings and facilities of the Ministry of Health is so great that it is no longer possible to work in this hospital. The Shifa Clinic is history.«

The Israeli army released video footage purporting to show soldiers preparing rooms for new patients and providing supplies in an intact hospital building. Eyewitnesses say dozens of civilians were killed during the siege. The information cannot be independently verified. According to the WHO, 21 patients died in the Shifa Clinic during this period.

Further south in the Gaza Strip, seven aid workers were killed in an Israeli army airstrike. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu took responsibility for the accident. A convoy from the “World Central Kitchen” organization was hit, even though the vehicles bore a logo and the planned trips were said to have been coordinated with the Israeli military. The victims were employees from Australia, Great Britain, Poland and the Palestinian territories, as well as a person with US and Canadian citizenship. The Israeli army announced a thorough investigation into the incident.
