Doctors Without Borders said it was astonished by the scenes of destruction that befell the Al-Shifa Medical Complex in the western Gaza Strip, which the Israeli army stormed and completely destroyed, while the World Health Organization warned against turning hospitals into battlefields.

In a statement published on its account on the X platform, Doctors Without Borders expressed its shock at the transformation of Al-Shifa Hospital into rubble, 14 days after the storming and attacks launched by Israeli forces inside and around the medical facility.

“The largest hospital in Gaza is now out of service, and given the scale of the destruction, people in Gaza are left with only a few health care options in northern Gaza,” the statement said.

The statement stated that access to Al-Shifa Hospital was impossible during its storming by the Israeli army, and that patients inside were denied treatment.

The United Nations announced that it intends to send a team to investigate the situation in the Al-Shifa Medical Complex after the shocking scenes and massive destruction that unfolded after the Israeli forces withdrew from it yesterday, Monday.

An investigation conducted by the Forensic Architecture organization - which specializes in forensic analysis of war zones and violence committed by governments and countries - showed the occupation forces’ methodology in targeting Al-Shifa Hospital, its medical staff, and the displaced.

The investigation included showing how the occupation forces destroyed the hospital’s surgical and emergency buildings, and how these violations occurred geographically and temporally.

The Israeli occupation army withdrew from the vicinity of Al-Shifa Medical Complex after an attack on the complex for two weeks, which led to the death, injury, and arrest of hundreds of Palestinians. Hundreds of bodies were also found inside the complex and in the surrounding area.
