“Yesterday, diplomatic facilities in Syrian Damascus were subjected to an airstrike, which killed seven members of the Iranian diplomatic mission and caused serious damage to the facilities,” he said.

The Chinese diplomat stressed that this attack is a gross violation of the UN Charter and international law, as well as a violation of the sovereignty of both Syria and Iran.

“China strongly condemns this attack,” he concluded.

Earlier, John Kirby, coordinator for strategic communications at the White House National Security Council, stated that the United States was not involved in Israel's attack on the Iranian consulate in Damascus.

On April 1, the Israeli Air Force attacked the embassy and residence of the Iranian ambassador in the Syrian capital.

Later, the Iranian Foreign Ministry announced its readiness to respond to Israel’s attack on the Iranian consulate.
