Askhab Uspanov, a native of Chechnya, was probably arrested the night after the terrorist attack at the Crocus City Hall concert hall in Moscow. He died in police custody a few hours later. This is reported by the medium “Radio Free Europe / Radio Liberty”. There are unconfirmed reports that he may have been tortured.

Uspanov's death was confirmed to the medium "Agentswo" by his mother. According to her, he was arrested while he was on his way to his wife's workplace. He called her and told her that "they had nothing against me" and that there was no need to pick him up. However, he later called again, made it clear that he had insulted the law enforcement officers and asked them to come. When the woman arrived at the police station two hours later, she was told that her husband was dead.

The independent Telegram channel "1ADAT" reported that Uspanov's ribs and spine were broken and his body showed signs of strangulation and bruises. The mother of the deceased told the media "Agentswo" that her son had not committed suicide. He was a Muslim and suicide is condemned by Islam. Uspanov's family categorically denies that he took part in the terrorist attack near Moscow.

Racist violence is increasing in Russia

After the terrorist attack on the Crocus City Hall concert hall near Moscow, raids against migrants and non-Slavic-looking Russians became more frequent in Russian cities. Migrants complained about discriminatory behavior, writes “Radio Free Europe / Radio Liberty”. They were beaten up. Their dormitories were broken into and some were expelled from Russia.

Four Tajik citizens were arrested on March 23. They are suspected of being involved in the terrorist attack on the Crocus concert hall. At a court hearing they showed signs of torture. A video was circulated online showing one of the detainees having his ear cut off.
