Today, Tuesday, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi took the constitutional oath before the House of Representatives for a new presidential term that begins tomorrow, Wednesday, and extends to 6 years. This was about 3 months after he announced his victory with 89.6% in elections that took place late last year and did not witness real competition.

After the Speaker of the Egyptian Parliament opened the Council session by reading the decision of the National Elections Authority regarding Sisi’s victory in the last presidential race, Sisi read the text of the oath for his third term in power in Egypt in front of those present at the new headquarters of the House of Representatives in the New Administrative Capital, east of Cairo, for the first time there.

Al-Sisi took the oath, in accordance with the text of Article 144 of the Egyptian Constitution, which stipulates that the President of the Republic takes the constitutional oath before assuming his duties, before the House of Representatives.

The text of the constitutional oath is: “I swear by Almighty God to faithfully preserve the republican system, to respect the constitution and the law, to fully care for the interests of the people, and to preserve the independence of the nation and the unity and integrity of its lands.”

In the 2024 elections, which were held last December, the Egyptian President won a term that will last until 2030, with approximately 40 million votes, representing 89.6 percent, and it was the highest percentage of participation and voting in the history of electoral elections in Egypt, according to official data at the time.
