Sudanese sources reported to Al Jazeera Net that 5 people were killed and a number of wounded were killed in an attack launched by a drone on Sudanese during a group breakfast in the city of Atbara, northeast of Khartoum, held by a battalion fighting with the Sudanese army.

The sources said that the attack area, which is located in the heart of the large market in Atbara, was closed and ambulances were seen moving to the place, in addition to the deployment of a large policeman, and a state of alert prevailed in the city, which is about 400 kilometers away from the war in Khartoum.

For its part, the International Organization for Migration said that the Rapid Support Forces launched an attack last Friday and Saturday on various sites in Sennar State, southeastern Sudan, killing 21 people and wounding 25 others.

According to the organization, the attacks resulted in a large-scale displacement movement in several parts of Sinnar State, without providing clear statistics on the number of people displaced due to these attacks.

Over the past few days, the villages of Sennar have witnessed sporadic attacks from the Rapid Support Forces, which are adjacent to the state of Al-Jazira from the southern side.

On Friday, the Sudanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs accused the Rapid Support Forces of attacking 28 villages and killing 43 civilians during the past two weeks in Al-Jazeera state in the center of the country.

Join forces

In this context, the Rapid Support Forces said, in a statement on their page on the “X” platform, that the forces of the “Justice and Equality Movement/Kordofan Wing” have joined their ranks in the state of West Kordofan, west of the country.

The support forces published pictures on the page, which they said were of the process of joining those forces. One of the speakers said that they joined the Rapid Support Forces in order to defend what he called the marginalized.

On the other hand, the Rapid Support Forces announced the arrival of a humanitarian convoy provided by the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) to East Darfur state, west of the country. She stated in a statement on the “X” platform that she had secured the convoy’s arrival in the state.

The Rapid Support Forces say that they have taken control of East Darfur state, whose capital is the city of El Daein, since last November. She published pictures that she said were of the convoy.

In parallel, an Al Jazeera camera tour revealed widespread destruction at gas stations in the city of Omdurman, west of the Sudanese capital, Khartoum.

The tour documented that all gas stations in Omdurman completely stopped working, forcing residents to bring fuel from neighboring states such as the Nile River State, north of Khartoum.

The tour also revealed damage to a number of major power stations in several neighborhoods in Omdurman, which led to a complete shutdown of electricity in about 10 neighborhoods of the city.

Since mid-April 2023, the Sudanese army led by Abdel Fattah al-Burhan and the Rapid Support Forces led by Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo (Hemedti) have been fighting a war that has left about 14,000 dead and more than 8 million displaced and refugees, according to the United Nations.
