The fire broke out in a nightclub under a residential building in the Besiktas district of Istanbul (Anatolia)

About 25 people were killed and 3 were seriously injured, today, Tuesday, in a fire that broke out in a nightclub in the basement of a 16-story residential building in the Besiktas area of ​​Istanbul, according to a new toll reported by the local authorities.

A statement from Ekrem Imamoglu's office said, "Although the fire was extinguished thanks to the intervention of firefighters, 25 people were killed in the incident, and 3 people were hospitalized in critical condition."

For his part, Turkish Interior Minister Ali Yerli Kaya confirmed that an immediate investigation has been opened to find out the reasons behind this incident, and that his ministry will announce the details as soon as it obtains results.

Turkish Justice Minister Yilmaz Tunj also stated that five people were arrested in connection with the incident, which he described as tragic, without giving further details.
