"Welcome to 'Donald J. Trump International Airport'!" A group of Republicans would like to hear this announcement at the most important international airport in the metropolitan region around the US capital. Guy Reschenthaler, Republican deputy leader in the House of Representatives, introduced the bill last Friday along with six colleagues, as first reported by Fox News.

“In my lifetime, our nation has never been as great as it was under the leadership of President Donald J. Trump,” Reschenthaler told Fox News. "As millions of domestic and international travelers fly through the airport, there is no better symbol of freedom, prosperity and strength than hearing 'Welcome to Trump International Airport' as they land on American soil," the Republican continued.

The bill calls for the current Washington Dulles International Airport in Virginia to be renamed after the former president. “Any reference in any law, regulation, map, document, writ, or other record of the United States to the airport referred to in subsection (a) shall be deemed to be a reference to Donald J. Trump International Airport,” it says Fox News in the draft.

However, the chances of the bill being passed by the Democratic-controlled Senate are very slim. However, if it passes unexpectedly, the airport would become the second airport in the Washington metropolitan area to be named after a former Republican president, after Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport in Arlington, Virginia.

“One of our greatest presidents”

»In 1998, Congress renamed Washington National Airport after one of our greatest presidents, Ronald Reagan. "It's only fitting that we do the same for another of our greatest presidents, Donald J. Trump," Republican Rep. Barry Moore, one of the proposal's sponsors, told Fox News. And Paul Gosar, another colleague, joins in the exuberant assessment of Trump's presidency: "I can't imagine a more fitting recognition than naming both airports in our nation's capital after America's two best presidents: DCA after Presidents Reagan and Dulles after President Trump.”

Four criminal trials are currently being prepared against Trump, who was described by the group of representatives as the “best president,” including for attempted election fraud and taking secret government documents. Nevertheless, he will almost certainly run again for the Republican presidential candidate against the current Democratic President Joe Biden. In the internal party primaries, the two no longer have any serious opponents.
