Ukrainian drone strikes central Russia over 1,000 km from border

At least 13 people were injured in a drone attack in the central Russian republic of Tatarstan, more than 1,000 kilometers from the border with Ukraine.



Ukrainian media reported that the attack was carried out by the Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine. Authorities in the Republic of Tatarstan, located in central Russia, announced on the 2nd that there had been attacks by drones in two locations in the republic.



According to local authorities, the factory was attacked and at least 13 people, including students, were injured.



Also, a refinery was attacked and a fire broke out.



Multiple Ukrainian media outlets have reported that the attack was carried out by the Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, and that a drone capable of long-range flight was used.



The Republic of Tatarstan is more than 1,000 kilometers from the border with Ukraine, and Russian media say this is the first time the Republic of Tatarstan has been attacked.

Defense Minister Shoigu also announced that Vice Admiral Sergei Pinchuk has been appointed commander of the Russian Navy's Black Sea Fleet, which is based in the unilaterally annexed Crimea in southern Ukraine.
