Since then, he has held various administrative positions. The Ukrainian press recalls that he worked in particular for the benefit of Russian customs. Activities which led to him being sought for collaboration by the Ukrainian security services.

This afternoon, Russian media broadcast a photo of the wreckage of what is presented as his car in Starobilsk. He was killed by “

the detonation of an unidentified device”

in the car, said the local Investigative Committee. This method of operation is not new. Before him, several officials died in similar circumstances. At the beginning of March, a civil servant from the Berdiansk region was killed in her vehicle. She then participated in the organization of the Russian presidential election in this occupied region. In December, another local pro-Russian official was killed in Lugansk by the explosion of an “

unidentified device

” placed in a car.

Ukrainian military intelligence, suspected of piloting these attacks behind the front line, had confirmed his identity and his functions, without openly claiming his assassination.
