Starting from April 1, the freight channel at the Erenhot Highway Port in Inner Mongolia will implement 24-hour customs clearance for a period of six months. This port has become China’s first highway port with 24-hour freight clearance for Mongolia.

In the freight channel of the Erenhot Highway Port, large trucks loaded with goods shuttled back and forth. The imported goods were mainly iron ore and coal, and the export goods were mainly daily necessities, household appliances, auto parts and other products.

Amulsana, a Mongolian truck driver who travels between China and Mongolia all year round, said that in the past, the highway port cleared customs from 8 am to 6 pm, and truck drivers had to queue up to wait for customs clearance. Now, customs clearance is 24 hours a day, and customs clearance can be carried out at any time. Time is faster and more efficient.

The Erenhot Highway Port freight channel launched a trial of 24-hour customs clearance for half a month in December last year, making full preparations for the implementation of this customs clearance policy. It is understood that from April 1 to September 30 this year, the passenger channel of the Erenhot Highway Port will still implement the original working system, and the passenger and freight channel will be closed during statutory holidays of both parties.

“After the port implements 24-hour customs clearance, we will combine the construction of smart border inspections, implement customs clearance measures such as scheduled customs clearance for commercial vehicles, green channels for agricultural and sideline products from China and Mongolia, and informatization of vehicle body inspections, continue to improve the level of intelligent customs clearance at the port, and maximize the release of ports Implement 24-hour freight customs clearance bonus to ensure efficient and smooth port customs clearance." said Liu Qiliang, deputy director of the Border Inspection Division of the Second Entry-Exit Border Inspection Station of Inner Mongolia Entry-Exit Border Inspection Station.

As a comprehensive hub port opened by China to Mongolia, Erenhot Port is responsible for the land transportation of more than 70% of Mongolia’s daily necessities, and plays a role in promoting the trade development between China and the countries co-building the “Belt and Road” and serving domestic and international dual circulation. plays an important role.

Since the beginning of this year, with the in-depth advancement of the joint construction of the "Belt and Road" initiative, economic and trade exchanges and personnel exchanges between China and Mongolia have become increasingly active. The Erlian Entry-Exit Border Inspection Station provides front-line services and takes proactive actions to continuously improve inspection efficiency, innovate customs clearance mechanisms, and ensure large-scale entry and exit of people and logistics at the port with high-quality services, as well as fast entry and exit.
