China News Service, Guilin, March 31 (Jiang Fenghui) "It is the first time for the students in the exchange group to come to Guilin. Guilin was introduced in class, so why not experience it in person." He Xiaoying, President of the Hong Kong One Belt and One Road Lions Club, March 31 said in an interview with reporters.

From March 28th to March 31st, the Guangxi Guilin Association of Hong Kong and the Hong Kong One Belt and One Road Lions Club jointly organized an educational exchange activity called "Exploring the Landscape and Geography of Guilin". Thirty students from 16 secondary schools in Hong Kong, plus a total of 43 volunteers, immersed themselves in the landscape, geography and humanities of Guilin, Guangxi.

The students visited the Xiangshan Scenic Area, Reed Flute Cave, and Longji Terraces to learn about the characteristics of karst landforms. Students from Guilin Zhongshan Middle School had "one-on-one" cultural exchanges with students from the exchange group to experience different campus life. Students personally experienced roasting bamboo tube rice, making mugwort cakes, oil tea, and tasting Guilin's special delicacies. They walked on the East-West Alley Pedestrian Street at night to feel the prosperity and fireworks of Guilin's "night economy", and visited the Jingjiang Prince's Mansion to experience the process of the ancient imperial examination.

For exchange group student Kelly Chen, visiting Reed Flute Cave was her favorite part of the trip. "I major in geography and have always wanted to learn about different geographical environments, so I took the initiative to sign up for this event. In Guilin, I saw stalactites of different shapes in the caves. People named the stones, which is both interesting and inclusive. The culture and legends here.”

In Dazhai Village, Longji Town, Longsheng Autonomous County, Chen Kelly baked bamboo tube rice and made mugwort cakes by herself. What impressed her more was the smell of camellia oleifera. "Guilin is mountainous, so people drink oil tea to ward off cold and dampness. They put a lot of green onion and ginger in the oil tea, which makes it taste delicious." Kelly Chen said that if there is a chance, she would like to come to Guilin again.

Yu Minhao, a Hong Kong student who is in the first year of junior high school, updated her "knowledge base" after visiting the Jingjiang Prince's Palace. She was very surprised by the immersive experience of the ancient imperial examination. "I used to know from TV that 'Guilin's landscapes are the best in the world', but I didn't expect these words to be engraved on Duxiu Peak. I always thought that this sentence only described the scenery, but it turned out that it also contained the hope that the students could show off to the best in the world." Yu Nahao believes that Guilin not only has beautiful landscapes, but also has a deep cultural heritage.

"Guilin is a place with a very profound cultural heritage. On this trip, we combined geographical knowledge with Guilin's national culture to introduce it to the students, and also allowed the students to have a comprehensive understanding of Guilin's landscape, geography, humanities and customs." He Xiaoying said. (over)
