This was stated in an interview with RIA Novosti by the head of the Russian delegation at the negotiations in Vienna on military security and arms control, Konstantin Gavrilov.

“They have repeatedly warned that their increasing involvement in armed confrontation is fraught with a direct military clash between nuclear powers with catastrophic consequences, for which responsibility will rest with them,” the diplomat said.

Earlier, Gavrilov said that Russia-NATO relations today can be described as “more than a cold war.”

Also, according to him, NATO’s policy towards Russia will lead to the degradation of the situation in Europe.
