On the hills located in the far south of the Hebron Governorate in the occupied West Bank, Abu Al-Kabash used to wake up every day to inspect his valuable possessions, which consisted of a grove of pomegranate and fig trees, topped with 6 different types of cactus plants that surrounded his house.

All that is lost

Since Israel began its war on Gaza following the October 7, 2023 attack on the settlements surrounding Gaza, Israeli settlers’ attacks on Palestinians have become so violent that the 76-year-old Palestinian farmer was forced to leave the land he inherited from his father and grandfather. He found his grandfather.

“I had to choose between life and death,” Abu Al-Kabbash said.

The man is not alone in this ordeal. More than 1,200 Palestinians across the occupied West Bank have been forced from their homes since the fighting began, according to human rights groups and the United Nations.
