A 40-year-old

evangelical pastor

has agreed to a sentence of one and a half years in prison after punching another man several times in the face during a minor soccer match at the Aldehuela Soccer Field in Fuenlabrada. During the match, a game incident led to a fight between the players. The brawl escalated with the parents' appearance on the field of play and culminated in

the priest attacking another spectator

, which

left him with wounds on his face and caused him to lose a tooth

.

The dispute originated around 8:00 p.m. on the afternoon of October 16, 2021, when an argument between minors who were playing soccer led several adults to intervene directly on the grass of the field.

The already convicted man began to rebuke the mother of one of the rival team's players

. Then, her husband approached to mediate the dispute and received two direct blows to the face.

As a result of this attack, in addition to the

loss of a tooth in the upper jaw

, the injured man suffered injuries consisting of

a hematoma in his left eye

.

In response to these events,

the Public Ministry

initially requested a four-year prison sentence for the pastor, accusing him of a crime of

injuries aggravated by deformity

due to the loss of a tooth. Likewise, the prosecution also requested financial compensation close to 14,000 euros for the damages suffered, as well as a

prohibition on contact

with the victim and his family for a period of five years.

The trial, scheduled to take place in the Provincial Court of Madrid on April 1, ended hours before its opening with an

agreement between the parties

.

The accused acknowledged his responsibility in the events and accepted a reduced sentence of one and a half years in prison, pleading guilty to a crime of minor injuries and agreeing

to compensate the victim with 14,000 euros

to repair the damage caused.
