The Local Police of Amposta (Tarragona) have arrested a

47-year-old man as the alleged perpetrator of the death of his ex-partner, whom he allegedly dismembered

in a house in that town although not the entire body would be found in the house, they have reported. sources close to the case, which the Mossos are investigating, told Efe.

The Amposta duty court has indicated, for its part, that tonight it is "completing the removal of the body of a woman found violently dead in a home."

"The judicial identification of the victim has not yet been possible due to the state of the remains found

," says the court.

The Ministry of Equality and Feminisms of the Generalitat, for its part, has indicated on social networks that it is following the evolution of this case as "alleged femicide."

The arrest of the man was carried out this afternoon by the Local Police after learning that

the detainee had said that he had killed his ex-partner.

The agents have set up a search device that has made it possible to locate him on a street in the town.

After his arrest, agents from the Criminal Investigation Division (DIC) of the Terres de l'Ebre Police Region have taken over the investigation of the case.

The same sources have indicated that part of the body of the victim, who was allegedly murdered days ago ,

has appeared

in the woman's home, located on Xile Street .

The Ministry of Equality has made itself available to the victim's environment and has stressed that, "in these difficult times, maximum privacy must be guaranteed."

If this case is confirmed as a sexist murder,

eight women would be the fatal victims of gender violence so far this year,
