OpenAI announced that the chat program “GPT Chat” will display the sources it relies on for the information it generates when browsing the Internet, according to the ZDnet website.

The company said - through its official account on the X platform - in a post that this change “provides more context for the answers, and makes it easier for users to discover content from publishers and creators.”

We're making links more prominent when ChatGPT browses the internet. This gives more context to its responses and makes it easier for users to discover content from publishers and creators. Browse is available in ChatGPT Plus, Team and Enterprise. pic.twitter.com/1ChlZvVMUy

It is worth noting that the browsing feature is currently only available in the paid versions of GBT Chat, which include Plus and Enterprise.

The new feature will be welcome, as it makes the information generated more credible and less likely to be “hallucinations” created by the robot itself without any real support or reference, as users will be able to follow the links themselves, and see more details about the topics that are discussed. They are looking for her.

Microsoft's Copilot AI assistant displays the sources of information it mentions in its answers to all users, whether regular account holders or Copilot Pro subscribers. Note that it also relies on OpenAI language models such as GPT-4.

Google's artificial intelligence assistant, Gemini, displays the sources it relies on, and refers to them via links that appear at the end of the answers, to help users verify the information.

Users of generative AI tools face problems with these tools often fabricating information, or providing incomplete or inaccurate information in response to various prompts.
