One person has died and six others have symptoms of hypothermia, after a boat capsized in Menorca this Sunday.

As reported by SAMU 061, the event occurred around 1:15 p.m. this Sunday, in the

Cala Sa Mesquida

area , when the alert was received that a boat had capsized.

The Palma Maritime Rescue Center has mobilized the Antares rescue boat and the 220 helimer, which has evacuated five rescued people to the helisurface of the Mateu Orfila Hospital in Mahón.

SAMU 061 has moved an advanced life support ambulance (ALS) and another basic life support ambulance (BLS) to the helisurface to carry out a first triage of the patients.

Afterwards, he moved the SVA unit to the

Port of Mahón

to assist two other people from the same incident, who have been evacuated by sea by a private boat. Both people have also been transferred to the Mateu Orfila Hospital.

Of the total number of people rescued, aged between 11 and 60 years old, one ended up dying and the other six were less serious with hypothermia.
