The Guardian writes about this, citing sources at the UN.

“Israel proposed to the UN to disband UNRWA... and transfer its staff to another agency,” the material said.

It is clarified that the Israeli initiative involves the transfer of UNRWA staff to one of the other UN agencies, for example to the World Food Program.

At the same time, as the publication notes, UN humanitarian workers are confident that only UNRWA has the resources and trust of the Palestinians to deliver food to the Gaza Strip, and an attempt to disband the agency for political reasons will lead to catastrophic consequences.

On March 5, Russia's permanent representative to the UN, Vasily Nebenzya, said that funding for UNRWA must be restored in full.

UNRWA chief Philippe Lazzarini has called for the creation of a commission to investigate the deaths of Palestinians at UN sites in the Gaza Strip.
