The Russian newspaper Vzglyad said that French President Emmanuel Macron's statements about the possibility of sending forces to Ukraine have fueled the anger of American officials who believe that such "reckless statements" may provoke an unnecessary clash with Russia.

Vzglyad added that despite the harsh anti-Russian American rhetoric, Washington is not eager to radically escalate the situation with Moscow, as it is aware of the risks that accompany such a decision.

The newspaper added that the Joe Biden administration takes into account the red lines drawn by the Russian authorities in the ongoing conflict.

Russian warning

It stated that Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov had previously warned the United States - which controls the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) - against any NATO member speaking in a way that would harm Russian interests, and he addressed the Americans, saying, “No to NATO forces in Ukraine.”

A few days ago, Dmitry Peskov, the Russian President's press secretary, pointed out this red line, saying that "sending some foreign military units to Ukraine is fraught with extremely negative and irreparable consequences."

According to Vezglyad, a number of Western military personnel are secretly present in Ukraine, which Poland described as an “open secret.” They can hold a variety of qualities and be registered as volunteers, employees of private military companies, or humanitarian aid specialists.

The Russian newspaper's report highlighted that the French president's words are neither reckless nor spontaneous, but rather that Macron, through his "aggressive anti-Russian rhetoric," is trying to gain internal political popularity before the European Parliament elections, especially in light of the superiority of the right-wing National Rally party led by Marine Le Pen.

Vzglyad added that Macron's attack on right-wing leader Marine Le Pen because of her sympathy for Russia is the only strategy that the French president can implement in circumstances in which his own achievements are absent.

Political propaganda

The newspaper quoted researcher Artin Der Simonyan as saying that Macron's toughening of his rhetoric towards Russia may be an attempt to improve his image in Eastern Europe, as Macron's statements received support there, which may be beneficial for future French strategic plans.

For his part, French political scientist Mathieu Drouin pointed out that it is impossible for the Americans to allow France to rule in Europe and determine the course of the European Union.

According to Vezglyad, it appears that the American authorities put pressure on Poland and the Baltic countries after it became clear that they did not support Macron’s opinion.

Thus, Latvian Prime Minister Ivica Selina announced that NATO countries are not ready to agree to send their military forces to Ukraine, and that this initiative is not well thought out.

Moreover, the head of the Polish Foreign Ministry noted that inviting Ukraine to join the coalition amounts to an invitation to the coalition countries to go to war against Russia.

As a result, Macron found himself alone after Eastern Europe, on which he relied so much, distanced itself from him.
