Presidential election in Senegal: the final results confirm the large victory of Bassirou Diomaye Faye

In Senegal, the Constitutional Council confirmed, on the evening of Friday March 29, the clear victory of Bassirou Diomaye Faye in the presidential election of March 24 in the first round. This is the last stage of the accelerated electoral process before the inauguration of the new head of state scheduled for April 2 and the departure of President Macky Sall.

The Constitutional Council has not received any dispute 

” indicates the decision, and “ 

Mr. Bassirou Diomaye Diakhar Faye is elected President of the Republic of Senegal 

”. The wise men therefore confirm the provisional results announced Wednesday evening by the National Votes Census Commission: 54.28% for the elected president and 35.79% of the votes for his main rival, the former Prime Minister, Amadou Ba.

This decision, taken after an abbreviated appeal period, therefore allows the organization of Bassirou Diomaye Faye taking office on April 2, the date of the end of the mandate of the outgoing head of state, Macky Sall. The two men already met on Thursday at the Palace, also in the presence of Ousmane Sonko. A visit “
