Part of UNIFIL forces in the de-escalation zone in southern Lebanon (French)

The Lebanese government condemned Israel's targeting of UNIFIL forces and confirmed its intention to file a complaint with the UN Security Council in this regard, while Hezbollah announced the bombing of 6 Israeli military sites off the border and in the occupied Shebaa Farms.

The Lebanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs said on Saturday that it would submit an urgent complaint to the UN Security Council “regarding Israel’s targeting of a UN peacekeeping patrol in Lebanon,” which resulted in 4 wounded.

Caretaker Prime Minister of Lebanon Najib Mikati condemned the targeting of a force from the United Nations Truce Supervision Organization in the town of Rmeish in southern Lebanon, describing the incident as dangerous.

Mikati's media office said that he contacted the Commander-in-Chief of the international forces operating in the south to express his solidarity with these forces.

He added that the UNIFIL commander informed Mikati that they were conducting their investigations to uncover the circumstances of the incident.

Earlier, the UNIFIL mission said that 3 of its members and a translator were injured as a result of an explosion that occurred near their patrol on the Blue Line in southern Lebanon.

She stressed the need to ensure the safety and security of United Nations crews, saying that all parties have a responsibility to protect them under international law.

The Israeli army was quick to deny targeting any UNIFIL vehicle in the Rmeish area.

Bombardment exchange

For its part, Hezbollah announced attacking 6 Israeli military sites off the southern border of Lebanon and in the occupied Shebaa Farms.

The party said that its fighters bombed a building where Israeli soldiers were stationed in the Admit settlement, and the movements of soldiers inside and around the monk’s site.

The party also said that it bombed the radar site in the occupied Shebaa Farms with missiles and achieved a direct hit.

The party targeted with missiles the Khirbet Maar base, soldiers and vehicles at the Al-Malikiyah site, and bombed the Ramim barracks with a Burkan missile.

On the other hand, Israeli fighters launched 6 raids on the towns of Naqoura, Hanin, and Taybeh in southern Lebanon.

The Israeli occupation army spokesman said that Israeli aircraft bombed Hezbollah infrastructure and sites in the areas of Taybeh, Naqoura and Kafr Hanin in southern Lebanon.

In the wake of a devastating Israeli war on the Gaza Strip, since October 8, 2023, the Israeli-Lebanese border has witnessed an exchange of fire between the Israeli army on the one hand, and Hezbollah and Palestinian factions on the other hand, which led to deaths and injuries on both sides of the border.

Recently, threats have escalated from Israeli officials to expand attacks on Lebanese territory unless Hezbollah fighters withdraw away from the border.
