The site of the former residential area at Camp Zukeran, a US military base that straddles Okinawa City and Kitanakagusuku Village, is scheduled to be returned from next year onwards, but before that, it will be opened to the public as a green space on the 31st, and on the 30th. Chief Cabinet Secretary Hayashi attended from the government and said, ``This is the first attempt to open the site prior to its return so that many people can use it as a place for recreation and interaction.
