A teacher at the Jules-Vallès elementary school in Plaisir, in Yvelines, aged around thirty, is suspected of touching a student and was suspended this Tuesday, according to the rectorate and the Versailles prosecutor's office. The teacher would have already been warned in January due to being too close to his students.

A teacher at the Jules-Vallès elementary school in Plaisir, in Yvelines, suspected of touching a student, was suspended on Tuesday, the Versailles rectorate and prosecutor's office told AFP on Friday. A report was sent to the public prosecutor, said the rectorate, who specifies that a police investigation is underway. National Education staff and a psychologist are on site to answer families' questions.

The alleged facts were reported by a CE2 student

“The rector of the Versailles academy as well as the Dasen (academic director of national education services, Editor’s note) of Yvelines will remain extremely vigilant regarding the monitoring and support that will be put in place,” indicates the rectorate. The teacher, who has not yet been placed in police custody, was himself attacked by a parent of a student, the prosecution said.

According to a parent of a student at this establishment contacted by AFP, the suspected teacher is a man in his thirties who teaches in a CE1 class. The alleged facts were reported by a CE2 student, whom he allegedly touched in particular on the chest. Four other CE1 students also said they had been victims of touching, said the student's parent. “He would put them on his knees and make guilis,” describes the student’s parent, who specifies that several children reported “fake slaps on the buttocks, on the cheeks” and even “hands in their pants.”

The teacher would have already been warned in January due to being too close to his students, says this same source, who is surprised by the inaction of the management of the establishment. A delegation of parents was to go to the establishment at 4:30 p.m. after classes. Three of them also planned to file a complaint on Saturday with the Versailles juvenile brigade.
