The Spanish Agency for Food Safety and Nutrition (

Aesan

) has activated the alert systems

after the poisoning of two people

in the Community of

Madrid

after consuming cookies and gummies from the Czech Republic with hexahydrocannabinol (HHC), a compound derived from cannabis.

The notice comes after the Madrid health authorities notified, through the Coordinated System for Rapid Information Exchange, of the presence of this substance in the

Cookies HHC and Gummies HHC products of the Weed Nation brand, according to Efe.

Aesan has notified the facts to the competent authorities of the autonomous communities and the rest of the countries of the European Union through the Rapid Alert System for Food and Feed, in which the

alert has been classified as "serious"

.

According to the notice, the two people poisoned in the Community of Madrid on March 22 suffered

"neurological symptoms (vertigo and dizziness)

and vomiting" after consuming these products, which can be purchased on the Internet.

The Agency emphasizes that, although they include a

warning that they should not be consumed

, "they present the appearance of food, especially attractive to children, and have been made available to the population," and warns that their consumption implies " a serious health risk.

Both products, which have also been marketed in Portugal,

have been withdrawn

and people who have them at home have been recommended to refrain from consuming them.
