“Our main goals should be to protect Ukraine from Russian invasion and preserve the country as an independent and integral state... The conflict in Ukraine may have to be thought about in the long term. This means that European countries will have more and more new obligations,” Tusk said.

According to him, despite the fact that Poland and Ukraine have “a very complex common history,” the Poles “know this and it is not discussed.”

As the leader of the opposition right party Alternative for Germany, Tino Krupalla, noted, Germany has no allied obligations towards Ukraine.
