RIA Novosti writes about this.

“Today we are starting a whole marathon of films about the Great Patriotic War. This action is on the eve of Victory Day,” said Russian Ambassador to the United States Anatoly Antonov.

According to him, as time passes, trees and grass grow in the trenches, fewer and fewer people remember what happened during the Great Patriotic War.

Thus, the first to be shown at the diplomatic department was the film “In August 1944”, followed by “28 Panfilov’s Men” and “Officers”.

Earlier, Russian Presidential Press Secretary Dmitry Peskov said that talk about which foreign leaders might visit Moscow to take part in the Victory Parade was premature.
