British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak (French)

The British newspaper The Telegraph said that British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak was criticized and accused of practicing "obscene favoritism" after recommending the Egyptian millionaire Mohamed Mansour for the title of knight.

Last year, Mansour gave the Conservative Party an amount of 5 million pounds ($6.3 million), which at the time was the largest donation the party had received in more than 20 years.

According to the Telegraph newspaper’s report, Mansour’s recommendation came in a surprise honor list on the occasion of Easter, which included film director Christopher Nolan (director of the Oppenheimer film, which won several Oscars) and his wife, Emma Thomas.

The list included 4 Conservative Party MPs loyal to Sunak, including Philip Davies, husband of Minister Esther McVeigh.

“This is either the arrogant act of a man in charge who has stopped caring what the public thinks, or the act of someone who is not expected to be prime minister for much longer,” said Anneliese Dodds, a Labor MP and official.

It is noteworthy that Mansour is a businessman and former Egyptian minister, who later obtained British citizenship, and had previously donated to many charities in Britain, including the King’s Foundation and a memorial to the victims of the Corona virus.

Mansour received a knighthood for his services to “charity work and political service.”

He also held the position of Minister of Transport in the government of the late Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak Mubarak between 2006 and 2009.
