The President arrived in the region for the opening ceremony of the Vulcanesti-Chisinau high-voltage power transmission line, Sputnik Moldova reports.

Sandu, in particular, spoke about the protests in Gagauzia.

“I am open to discuss with all citizens who come to discuss “their own agenda.” What we saw today and earlier are citizens who are brought in for money not with their own agenda, but with the agenda of one criminal group,” the president asserted.

On March 29, local residents in Gagauzia protested in anticipation of the arrival of the President of Moldova to the autonomy. Several police crews also arrived at the scene of the action.

The head of Gagauzia, Evgenia Gutsul, previously demanded a public apology from Maia Sandu for constant insults and groundless accusations. Hutsul’s lawyers are preparing a lawsuit to protect the politician’s honor, dignity and business reputation.

Sandu previously refused to sign a decree appointing Hutsul as a member of the country's government. The head of state believes that Hutsul “works for a criminal group” - this is how Sandu calls the opposition party “Shor”, banned in the country through the efforts of the authorities.
