On Friday, Iran and Russia condemned the strikes launched by Israel on the Aleppo countryside in Syria in the early hours of the morning, which led to the death of more than 40 civilians and military personnel.

Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said that Moscow condemns the Israeli strikes on Syria and considers them a blatant violation of Damascus' sovereignty.

The Russian official stressed that these actions herald very serious consequences in light of the sharp escalation in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

"We strongly condemn these acts of armed provocation, which have extremely serious repercussions in the context of a significant deterioration of the situation in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict zone," she said.

Expansion of the crisis

For its part, the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs strongly condemned the Israeli raids on areas in Aleppo Governorate in northern Syria, "which led to the martyrdom of Syrian soldiers and civilians."

It considered the Israeli raids a blatant violation of international law and Syrian sovereignty and a threat to regional and international peace.

The ministry added that the Israeli raids on Syria aim to "expand the crisis in the region and restore Israel's defeats against the Palestinian resistance factions."

Human and material losses

The Syrian regime news agency (SANA) reported earlier that a number of civilians and soldiers were killed and wounded in an Israeli bombing that targeted a number of points in the countryside of the city of Aleppo in the north of the country.

SANA quoted a military source as saying, “At approximately 1:45 a.m. Friday morning, the Israeli enemy launched an air attack from the direction of Athriya, southeast of Aleppo, targeting a number of points in the Aleppo countryside.”

She explained that the Israeli bombing resulted in the killing and wounding of a number of civilians and soldiers, and material losses to public and private property, without specifying a specific number.

The French news agency quoted the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights as saying that the Israeli strikes led to the death of “at least 42 Syrian soldiers and fighters from the Lebanese Hezbollah.”
