The Israeli Broadcasting Corporation revealed, today, Friday, that a dispute had taken place between Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, on the one hand, and Ministers Benny Gantz and Gadi Eisenkot, on the other hand, during the war cabinet meeting, yesterday evening, Thursday.

The commission - which is official - said that the head of the Mossad intelligence service, David Barnea, requested during the meeting to expand the powers of the Israeli team that is managing negotiations to reach an agreement to release detainees held by the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) in the Gaza Strip.

She added that Barnea's request was followed by the development of the confrontation between the two ministers and Netanyahu.

The Israeli Broadcasting Authority said, “Eisenkot and Gantz said: This (negotiations) has been going on for too long, and we need to end it already. We could have already been in the middle of the deal if we had been proactive. There is little progress in the talks because we did not take the reins.” The initiative".

In turn, Netanyahu responded, saying, “We are forced to engage in difficult negotiations. This is a complicated matter. Hamas is not interested in reaching an agreement, and we must not show the enemy signs of weakness,” according to the commission.

Suspension of the meeting

The Israeli Broadcasting Authority noted that during the discussion, Minister Eisenkot held in his hand the “The Next Day” document and Netanyahu’s war strategy and said to him, “How do we move forward with this thing? There is no part of the map that is moving forward. You are not moving forward in any of the stages of this document.” which you specified.

She explained that the meeting was adjourned after the Prime Minister requested that it be ended to discuss the crisis of the draft law on conscription for religious Jews.

Indirect negotiations are continuing in Doha between Israel and Hamas, mediated by Qatar, Egypt, and the United States, with the aim of reaching a prisoner exchange deal and a second truce between the two parties, after the first, which lasted a week until the beginning of last December, and resulted in a prisoner exchange and the entry of limited aid into the Gaza Strip.

Tel Aviv holds at least 9,100 Palestinians in its prisons, while it is estimated that there are about 134 Israeli detainees in Gaza, while Hamas announced that 70 of them were killed in random Israeli raids.

Since last October 7, the Israeli army has been waging a devastating war on Gaza that has left tens of thousands dead and wounded, most of them children and women, according to Palestinian sources, which necessitated Tel Aviv’s trial before the International Court of Justice on charges of genocide.
