The Israeli army said on Friday that it had killed Ali Abdel Hassan Naim, deputy commander of Hezbollah's rocket and missile unit, while the party continued to bomb settlements and military sites in the Upper Galilee.

The Israeli army explained that it killed Ali Abdel Hassan Naim in an air strike in the Al-Bazouriya area in Lebanon.

The army added that Naim was "one of the armed leaders allied with Iran in the field of launching heavy-weight missiles and was responsible for planning and launching attacks on Israeli civilians."

The National News Agency in Lebanon reported, “A martyr was killed in a hostile drone strike that targeted a car on the road to the town of Al-Bazouriya in the Tire district, and ambulances rushed to transport the casualties.”

A Lebanese military source said that the dead man was a "Hezbollah official."

The French news agency reported that the targeted car was destroyed and its debris was scattered nearby, indicating that the authorities set up a security cordon in the area. Hezbollah has not yet commented on this Israeli strike.

Direct hit

On the other hand, Hezbollah announced that it targeted the headquarters of the 91st Division in the Israeli Baranit Barracks with Burkan missiles, confirming a direct hit.

He added that he bombed with artillery a gathering of Israeli soldiers in Honen Castle in the Upper Galilee.

Al Jazeera's correspondent said that sirens sounded in Kiryat Shmona and other towns in the Upper Galilee.

In the wake of a devastating Israeli war on the Gaza Strip, since October 8, 2023, the Israeli-Lebanese border has witnessed an exchange of fire between the Israeli army on the one hand, and Hezbollah and Palestinian factions on the other hand, which led to deaths and injuries on both sides of the border.

Recently, threats have escalated from Israeli officials to expand attacks on Lebanese territory unless Hezbollah fighters withdraw away from the border.
