Foreign Minister Kamikawa has suspended the response to UNRWA (United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees), where some of its staff members are suspected of being involved in attacks on Israel, following a meeting with Director-General Lazzarini on the 28th. He expressed his intention to urgently make arrangements for the resumption of funding.

Regarding UNRWA, there are suspicions that some of its staff were involved in the attack on Israel by the Islamic organization Hamas in October last year, and the Japanese government has suspended funding from January this year.

Foreign Minister Kamikawa met with Secretary-General Lazzarini at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs last night, and received an explanation of measures to strengthen governance to prevent a recurrence.

Regarding this, Minister Kamikawa emphasized at a press conference on the 29th, ``It is important that effective measures be taken to ensure that Japan's aid is not used for any terrorist activities.''

After that, he said, ``We will make final adjustments to ensure the efforts necessary to resume contributions. We will move forward with consideration with even more speed.'' I expressed my thoughts in a hurry.

Meanwhile, the Liberal Democratic Party also heard an explanation from Secretary General Lazzarini at the Kesa meeting.

Although some participants expressed cautious opinions about resuming contributions, we have compiled a proposal to allow resumption on the condition that the transparency of activities is ensured.
