For the Easter weekend, road traffic should be significant from this Friday, with the Ile-de-France and Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes regions classified in red in the direction of departures by Bison Futé. On the way back, it is the regions of the north-west of the country which will have the most used roads.

It's a reflex for many motorists before leaving on vacation, or a long weekend: observe the Bison Futé forecasts to leave at the right time. This Easter weekend is no exception to the rule, with the possibility for some French people to extend the pleasure thanks to the public holiday Monday. On this occasion, the reference body for road information in France published its forecasts for the main roads in France.

Difficult traffic on Friday in Île-de-France and Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes

Thus, this Friday, the regions of Ile-de-France and Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes are classified in red (very difficult traffic) in the direction of departures, while the rest of the country is classified yellow (traffic difficult). Which gives a day classified orange at the national level.

In his note, Bison Futé advises Ile-de-France motorists, and those who have to pass through the Paris region, to leave the region before midday. Traffic on the A10 motorway towards Orléans is expected to be busy, as is the A7 linking the metropolis of Lyon to Orange. Also note significant traffic in the Mont-Blanc tunnel: the organization suggests avoiding this axis between noon and 7 p.m.

Furthermore, the roads should be much less busy on Saturday, with just one Paris region classified in yellow. This time, Bison Futé advises the earliest rising motorists to cross Île-de-France before 8 a.m. to avoid possible traffic jams.

Monday, the northwest quarter of the country classified in red in the direction of returns

If Sunday should be a calm day on the roads, it will be quite different on Monday in the direction of returns with an orange day at the national level. Hauts-de-France, Normandy, Ile-de-France, Brittany and Pays-de-la-Loire are classified in red, while all the rest of France is in yellow.

The most congested main roads connecting Paris according to Bison Futé will be the A13 (Caen, Rouen), the A10 from Orléans and the A6. “They will be from the end of the morning, and until late in the evening,” notes Bison Futé, referring to heavy and late traffic to be expected, particularly on the A10. If possible, the organization urges motorists to reach or pass through the Paris region before 2 p.m.

In the North, traffic will also be very difficult on the A25, between Dunkirk and Lille. And further south, where traffic should be a little less dense, it would be good to avoid taking the A7 (Orange-Lyon) between 4 p.m. and 10 p.m. and the A43 (Chambéry-Lyon) between 6 p.m. and 8 p.m.
