“Unfortunately, our relations are becoming the object of wider confrontation and this is not hidden by the United States. They openly say that they view relations with Armenia precisely in the context of the confrontation with Russia and Iran,” he told the 24News portal.
According to the diplomat, this is dangerous and could damage Russian-Armenian relations if there is not enough political will on the part of Yerevan.
Earlier, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said that Armenia, under far-fetched pretexts, is leading to the collapse of relations with Russia.
Official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova said that Moscow is discussing with Yerevan the issue of a possible shutdown of Russian television channels in Armenia.
