Houthi supporters demonstrate to denounce the Israeli aggression on Gaza (European Archives)

The leader of the Ansar Allah Houthi group, Abdul Malik Al Houthi, said that the American-British aggression launched 13 raids and naval bombardments on Yemen during the past week, describing the raids as “a failure,” adding that the enemy is withholding international humanitarian aid from the Yemenis.

In a televised speech last night, Abdul Malik al-Houthi affirmed that the American-British raids “cannot limit the capabilities of the Yemeni armed forces - affiliated with the Houthis - nor affect the Yemeni decision to support the Palestinian people, (...) and the aggression against our country will not affect Except in contributing, where the enemies do not want, to developing military capabilities.”

He stated, "The enemy continues to put pressure on the humanitarian file to deprive the Yemeni people of the aid that was coming through the United Nations," and added, "But our people are continuing, and nothing of these hostile actions on the part of the Americans, the British, and their agents is affecting their position."

In early December, the United Nations World Food Program announced the suspension of the general food aid program in areas under the control of the Houthi group in northern Yemen, due to limited funding and the failure to reach an agreement with the Houthis regarding providing a smaller amount of aid.

But the group said on more than one occasion that stopping aid was due to Yemen's position in support of Palestine, in reference to Houthi operations in the Red Sea and Gulf of Aden against Israeli ships linked to Israel. In solidarity with the Gaza Strip, which is facing a devastating Israeli war with American support.

Military targets

The Houthis are targeting Israeli or associated cargo ships in the Red Sea with missiles and drones, determined to continue their operations until the end of the war on Gaza.

With the intervention of Washington and London and the tension taking an escalating turn last January, the Houthi group announced that it now considered all American and British ships among its military targets.

Since the beginning of this year, the Washington-led coalition has launched raids that it says target Houthi sites in various regions of Yemen, in response to its attacks in the Red Sea, which was met with a response from the group from time to time.

This comes at a time when the Israeli army has continued a devastating war on Gaza since October 7, despite the issuance of a resolution by the UN Security Council, last Monday, demanding an immediate ceasefire during the month of Ramadan, and also despite Israel appearing for the first time before the International Court of Justice on charges of Committing genocide.
