China News Service, March 28 (Xinhua) According to the "New York Post" report, on the 27th local time, the US National Transportation Safety Board investigation team stated that it had obtained the black box of the "DALI" cargo ship that hit the Baltimore Bridge in Maryland when it collapsed.

On March 26, local time, the Francis Scott Key Bridge in Baltimore, Maryland, USA, fractured and collapsed after being hit by a cargo ship. The picture shows an aerial photo of the collapsed bridge in Baltimore.

National Transportation Safety Board Chairman Jennifer Homendy reportedly said the black boxes will help investigators develop a timeline of events outlining what went wrong when the cargo ship hit the bridge.

Homendy said, "We have sent the key data in the black box to the laboratory, hoping to obtain information about what happened before the cargo ship hit the bridge, and whether there was a power outage later that day."

She added that investigative teams are in Baltimore reviewing black box data, interviewing crew members and reviewing the operational and safety records of the cargo ship, its owners and operators, and the bridge.

Reports indicate that the black box may provide information on what caused the ship to lose control after leaving the Port of Baltimore. According to reports, lights on the ship could be seen flickering on and off minutes before the accident.

According to a Coast Guard briefing, two port workers reported a loss of propulsion and electrical problems on the vessel before it struck the bridge.

Homendy added that a preliminary report on the accident is expected to be released in the next two to four weeks, but a final report could take up to two years to complete.

According to the Associated Press, on March 26, local time, the Francis Scott Key Bridge in Baltimore collapsed due to the impact of a cargo ship. Six unaccounted people have been presumed dead. The search and rescue work on the 27th has shifted its focus to salvage tasks, and two bodies have been recovered.
