In the appeal, the legislator noted that persons recognized as foreign agents in accordance with national legislation may try to publicly and actively interfere in elections both at the stage of election campaigning, and during the voting itself and after it.

They, according to him, are trying to publicly manipulate public opinion, persuade citizens to take certain actions at polling stations, and take actions aimed at discrediting the elections themselves by imposing false information, Fedorov noted.

“In this regard, I ask you to consider the advisability of amending federal legislation regarding the introduction of a period of silence (ten days before voting, during the voting period and ten days after voting) during elections for foreign agents, during which these persons receiving funds from foreign sources, it will be prohibited to publicly touch upon the topic of elections, try to influence citizens and the voting process, and also provide for administrative penalties for violation of this provision,” the appeal says.

Earlier, the State Duma proposed transferring royalties from foreign agents to a special military operation.
