It is reported that in August 2022, the detainee was recruited by an employee of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine. He was trained in mine explosives and planned to carry out terrorist attacks.

“During a search at the suspect’s residence, one improvised explosive device and two US-made anti-personnel mines (M18A1 Claymore) were seized,” the statement said.

A criminal case has been opened under Part 1 of Art. 30, part 1 art. 205 of the Criminal Code of Russia (preparation to commit a terrorist act) and Part 1 of Art. 222.1 of the Criminal Code of Russia (illegal acquisition, transfer, sale, storage, transportation, forwarding or carrying of explosives or explosive devices).

Earlier, the Russian Investigative Committee reported that a resident of Berdyansk was sentenced to seven years in prison for participating in the preparation of a terrorist attack.
