The Loire and the Rhône are placed on orange alert for strong winds this Friday, Météo France announces. The rains that arrived during the previous night will water in the morning the regions going from the Grand-Est to Burgundy, Franche-Comté, the north of Auvergne, Limousin and Aquitaine, the Pyrenees where it will snow beyond 2,000 m.

The weather for Friday promises to be still choppy, with a strong wind which will particularly affect the south of the country, with the Loire and the Rhône being placed on orange alert for this phenomenon, according to Météo France. Up to 100 to 110 km/h of wind in the Lyon and Saint-Etienne regions 

The weather will be drier but very windy from Rhône-Alpes to the PACA region, Languedoc-Roussillon, the north of Midi-Pyrénées as well as Corsica. The south to southeast wind will reach 60 to 80 km/h along the Mediterranean and in the Autan area. It will blow even harder from the Cévennes to the Rhône valley with gusts of 80 to 90 km/h, up to 100 to 110 km/h in the Lyon and Saint-Etienne regions placed on orange wind alert.

On the Pyrenean ridges, gusts will reach 70 to 80 km/h to the west of the range and 100 to 110 km/h to the east. Finally, from the Belgian border towards the Paris region, Brittany and Poitou-Charentes, the sun will make beautiful breakthroughs.

Similar conditions in the afternoon

In the afternoon, conditions will remain similar, with clear weather from Languedoc-Roussillon to the PACA region and Rhône-Alpes but still very windy. The clouds will make up for some nice clearings from the Belgian border towards Normandy, Brittany and the Pays de la Loire.

Between these two zones, the rain will persist, thunderstorms may occur from the Basque Country towards the central Pyrenees going up towards Midi-Pyrénées and Auvergne. Minimum temperatures will range from 6 to 10 degrees generally from north to south, 11 to 14 around the Gulf of Lion and in Corsica. The maximums will reach 12 to 16 degrees in the northern half and 16 to 20 degrees in the south, up to 24 to 25 degrees on the Roussillon plain.
