Olivier Delacroix goes to meet Colette in Malesherbes in the Loiret department. Colette, now 64 years old, grew up with a very toxic mother who mistreated her all her life. She agreed to tell her story in this episode of the podcast “Dans les yeux d’Olivier”, produced by Europe 1 Studio. Anne-Marie was a student and single when she gave birth to Colette in 1953. Unable to take care of the baby, she even tried to poison him with adulterated milk. The little girl is then entrusted by her grandparents to a nanny. But at the age of six, Colette's mother took her home. However, she still cannot stand the presence of her child at home and Colette does not receive any sign of affection. Her mother also regularly deprives her of food, causing the little girl to suffer from stunted growth. However, no one suspects the situation. His mother is a college professor who is widely admired and respected in the neighborhood. As an adult, when Colette meets Yannick, her future husband, her mother does everything possible to derail the marriage. At 27, Colette gave birth to her first child but the fear of reproducing her mother's behavior plunged her into a deep depression. Despite everything, under the influence of this toxic relationship, Colette continues to chase her mother's love. At 36, the young mother underwent psychotherapy which made her understand the illness from which her mother suffered. A few days before her death, Colette tried one last time to obtain a sign of love, in vain. After her mother's funeral, those around her still refuse to believe Anne-Marie's toxic behavior. Today, Colette now feels free and has finally gained self-confidence. In this episode of the podcast “Dans les yeux d’Olivier” produced by Europe 1 Studio, Colette opens up about her story. She is also the author of the book "The Bonsai Child" where she reestablishes her journey to free herself once and for all from her mother's influence.
